SBC (Sports Betting Community) has further strengthened its US operation with the appointment of Kevin Smith as Director of Marketing & Communications, North America.
Following the success of its inaugural Betting on Sports America conference in New Jersey and the SBCAmericas.com news website, SBC is focused on establishing itself as a major information provider in the fast-growing North American sports betting market and Smith will play a key role in the expansion plan.
He brings with him 20 years of experience in digital marketing, communications and event management across a range of industries, including work with both the land-based and online casino sectors.
Smith will work alongside Sue Schneider, VP Growth & Strategy, Americas, to develop and promote SBC’s events and media brands in the North American market.
SBC’s already scheduled events in the region include Betting on Sports America 2020 at Meadowlands Exposition Center, New Jersey from 28-30 April. The conference and exhibition will see 2,500 senior executives from operators, regulators, affiliates, suppliers, payment companies and sports organisations gather for a programme of insightful panels and high-level networking opportunities.
The speakers at the 2019 edition of the event included Phil Murphy (New Jersey Governor), Ryan Howard (SeventySix Capital Partner & Ex-Philadelphia Phillies star) and Brian Westbrook (SeventySix Capital Athlete Venture Group & Ex-Philadelphia Eagles star), and the 2020 line-up will be even more extensive, with 200 industry experts due to share their knowledge and experience.
SBC will also host the ‘Vegas Baby’ edition of its famed networking parties for sports betting professionals at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2019 in Las Vegas, as part of its partnership with the organizer of the gaming trade show and educational event.
SBC will also produce the Official Sports Betting Guide to G2E which will give all delegates attending the ‘world’s premier international gaming trade show’ a synopsis of the sports betting content at the event as well as a series of articles looking at the development of sports betting in the US and where it is heading in the future. In addition to activity in North America itself, the region’s growing sports betting market will also feature heavily at SBC’s flagship international Betting on Sports 2019 event in London from September 17th to 20th, with a USA In Focus conference track among the options for the 3,500 delegates.
Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Kevin to SBC in what is a key role for our North American growth plans. He brings with him an extensive skill set that will complement Sue’s knowledge and capabilities, and together they will help us to make further inroads into the fast-moving US sports betting market.”
Smith added: “It’s an exciting time to be joining SBC, after the impact the company made with its first Betting on Sports America event. The opportunities for an events and media company in the North American gaming market are huge as more states legalize sports betting, and SBC’s success in other territories shows it has the expertise and infrastructure to flourish here.”
