Betfred USA Sports: 2020 can still be a good year for sports betting if major sports return

With only a week to go until SBC Digital Summit North America, we’ve been catching up with our sponsors to find out what they’re most looking forward to at the event.

Bryan Bennett, COO of Betfred USA Sports, told SBC that 2020 can still be a good year for sports betting if major sports return, and that cashless casinos are an innovation that he’s keeping an eye on.

What are you looking forward to at the SBC Digital Summit North America?

First and foremost, I’m really looking forward to just being part of a larger iGaming and sports betting event, even if it’s just virtual. It would be great to meet in person, but since that’s not possible, it will be nice to have some semblance of normality.

Second, as US sports start to come back again in July, this event is a great way to get ready for the restart and hear how other companies are approaching the space during this crazy time.

What would be your biggest bit of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?

Don’t panic, keep your eye on the larger prize. 2020 can still be a good year for sports betting if we get all the major sports back as planned for August through October, but we’re really focused on just getting through this year and getting this virus behind us at some point.

What are you promoting at SBC Digital Summit North America?

Betfred USA Sports is the US division of UK-based Betfred Group. We have launched retail sports books in Iowa and Colorado, with online products coming soon. We’re actively looking for additional partners across the US.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?

I’m not sure if it will happen in 2020 or not, but cashless casinos is one development that we’re closely following.

Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?

I’m a bit biased, but I would have to say Betfred. We went from not having an office in the US as recently as November to having two sportsbooks with a third on the way in PA as well as a multi-year sponsorship with the Denver Broncos. We want everyone to know who Betfred is by the end of the year.

What partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?

I love the Pointsbet deal with the Tigers…first of its kind for MLB, and the first in Michigan.

Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?

I’m really looking forward to the media and sports betting session. There have been some large deals done in that space and it will be interested to see if the potential of those deals is eventually realized.
