SBC launched the Sports Betting Hall of Fame in 2016, to recognise the individuals who have contributed a great deal to the industry over the course of their careers with a lasting legacy. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honour, preserve and perpetuate the names and outstanding accomplishments of personalities who have brought lasting fame to the sports betting sector.
Consideration for the Sports Betting Hall of Fame shall be limited to individuals (living or deceased) who have made outstanding contributions and/or provided outstanding service to the sports betting industry.
The candidate(s) should have accomplishments such as:
Long experience in the industry
Innovative product or marketing introductions
Supply process changes, which significantly improved the process or product
A prominent role in promoting the public’s awareness and appreciation of the importance of sports betting
Promoting the public’s awareness of the sports betting industry as a significant and responsible member of the business community
On the final day of this years Betting on Sports, held at the iconic Natural History Museum in London, we will be inducting new members into the Sports Betting Hall of Fame, for continued support to the gaming industry.

During his time as State Governor for New Jersey, Christie was instrumental in generating the political will to revisit and challenge the federal ban on sports betting via the PASPA, which eventually was ruled as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in May last year.
Christie spent more than seven years fighting for legalized sports betting in his state and it was his efforts in spearheading the challenge through the federal courts that opened the door for states across the nation to take a look at regulating sports betting.
VP Race and Sports Book Operations
Station Casinos LLC
Art Manteris brings more than 35 years of Nevada race and sports book expertise to his role at Station Casinos as Vice President of Race and Sports Operations where he oversees the race and sports book operations for the Company’s 16 sports books in Southern Nevada.
Manteris recently oversaw the design and development of ten expanded or remodeled state-of-the-art race and sports books for Station Casinos, several of which now offer the best video screen and odds display technology available in the world today.
Manteris was also instrumental in creating and overseeing the Company’s STN Sports mobile gaming app that offers enhanced browsing and wagering on sporting and racing events delivered in real time and with more engaging content.

Drazin & Warshaw, P.C. & Monmouth Park
Dennis Drazin, Chairman and CEO of Darby Development, the operator of Monmouth Park, secured his place in sports betting history as the man who spearheaded the fight to make sports wagering legal in New Jersey and ultimately throughout the US.
He waged a near seven-year legal battle to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), with the US Supreme Court eventually finding in his favor on May 14, 2018. The decision opened the doors for legalized sports betting across the country after being restricted to a mere four states since the Act was enacted in 1992.
Drazin, is a racehorse owner of note and took over the reins at Monmouth Park in 2012. He has been a long-established advisor to the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and served as chairman of the New Jersey Racing Commission in 2009.

Last year SBC recognised five members of the sports betting community who have made a real difference to the sector over the course of their careers. Each of these had played a prominent role in the public’s awareness and appreciation of the importance of sports betting, while displaying a level of innovation either by improving an industry process or bringing a new product to market.
The new members of the Hall of Fame were:
Constantinos Antonopoulos has been recognised for his work as a founding member and shareholder of Intralot. Following its establishment in 1992, Antonopoulos helped grow the company to having a presence in over 56 countries, with a global workforce of over 5500 individuals.
During his career, he has received a number of accolades in the lottery industry, one of which was allowing Intralot to become a founding member of the Global Growth Companies community. He is a member of the board of directors of the Federation of Greek Industries and participates in the Foreign Affairs Executive Committee of the Federation (SEV International).
Founder & Former CEO
Norbert Teufelberger brings more than 30 years of experience in the national and international casino and betting business, having started out in 1989. The major contribution to the gambling industry was the founding of bwin, along with Manfred Bodner, which went on to be one of the biggest European online bookmakers.
During his career, he has held a number of key positions with Casinos Austria, was a consultant to Novomatic Group, among many other companies. Teufelberger founded bwin in September 1999, and was integral to the development of the company’s initial business strategy in preparation for public listing.
Global Betting And Gaming Consultants (GBGC)
Warwick Bartlett, Chief Executive and owner of Global Betting & Gaming Consultants (GBGC), secured his place in SBC’s Hall of Fame for his integral work in the UK bookmaking industry.
Throughout his colourful career, Bartlett has been recognised for his work as the chairman of the Association of British Bookmakers, as well as sitting as the Chairman of the Bookmakers Committee to the Levy Board for six years. Bartlett also held a seat on the Horserace betting Levy Board for the same period.
Bartlett has had a number of notable successes along the way in his long career, with the GBGC being listed as the first to introduce the term gross gaming yield, which later became the benchmark for taxing winnings instead of revenue. He was instrumental in delivering coverage of South African Racing to the UK betting shops during the big freeze of 1978/9, as well as publishing the first meaningful report on the global gambling industry. GBGC’s Global Gambling Report is now in its 14th edition.
Fabio Schiavolin was inducted into SBC’s Hall of Fame in 2018 for his work in developing and transforming the Italian market which saw Snaitech become an established player in the country.
During his career, Schiavolin has been CEO of Cogemat Spa, then Cogetech, and now Snaitech as he has successfully overseen joint ventures and mergers before the eventual sale to Playtech.
Pontus Lindwall has been recognised in SBC’s Hall of Fame for his work across the sports betting industry, having been behind the successes of Betsson AB, Intact Technology, and Net Entertainment NE AB.
During his time in the industry, Lindwall has served as a Director of Establish AB, Aciago AB and Solporten Fastighets AB, in addition to being named as a Member of the Board at PortWise AB.

BetConstruct Chairman Vigen Badalyan also assumed CEO duties for the company in November 2017 following the departure of Vahe Baloulian. Formerly the owner of Vivaro Betting, Badalyan was one of the founding members of the company, which now operates development, sales and service centres in 14 countries worldwide. Now headquartered in London, Badalyan has overseen the growth of BetConstruct’s online and land-based gaming solutions, with a product range which includes a fully managed sportsbook and casino, alongside sports data and retail betting shop solutions.
Fred Done recently celebrated 50 years in the betting game. With his brother Peter, he opened the first ‘Done Bookmakers’ betting shop in Pendlebury on 4 September 1967. Heading up the family business, the real growth came in the millennium with a name change to Betfred and the opening of a first shop in London. By 2010, Betfred had a high street presence of 800 shops, which grew to 1,350 with the purchase of the Tote for £265 million, an exclusive seven-year licence to run pools betting on UK horse racing. Fast forward to 2017, Done has consolidated Betfred’s status as a UK betting behemoth, which operates over 1,700 shops and employs more than 11,000 staff nationwide.
Paris Smith started her gaming career in 1995 by taking bets at WWTS, an offshore sports betting company that was later sold to Betcorp Ltd. Having worked her way up the business to become COO, she joined Curacao-based Pinnacle in the same role from 2006. Pinnacle soon recognised Smith’s efforts in shifting the focus away from North America towards growth markets in Asia and Europe, by promoting her to CEO in 2008. Almost a decade on, Pinnacle continues to flourish under her leadership. The operator emphasised its desire for data driven innovation by launching a revamped eSports portal in 2017.

Bookmakers Technology Consortium
Howard Chisholm, the long term Managing Director for Chisholm Bookmakers, is a third generation independent bookmaker who has grown the family business from 10 shops to 47 in the North East of England. He is also one of the founders and a director of the Bookmakers Technology Consortium, a not-for-profit co-operative that shares the cost of IT infrastructure. It has grown from the original four members to represent 50 companies today and over 500 shops.
Carsten Koerl is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sportradar AG, a company which occupies a unique position at the intersection of the sports, media and betting industries. Since 2001, Koerl has driven the company’s growth from a tech-focused start-up to a global leader in delivering sports data. Prior to founding Sportradar, he was the founder of bwin and led the company through one of the most successful public listings ever undertaken on the Vienna stock market.
Mark Blandford is the Founder of Sportingbet. He became a bookmaker on 4 July 1984 and successfully built up two betting shop chains in the following decade. However, the emergence of the internet triggered the venture that became Sportingbet. As a result of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, Sportingbet posted operating profit of £105m in 2006. Blandford is now a venture capital investor and the Chairman of FSB Technology.
