SBC Webinars Exclusive: Betting and Gaming Council – Committed to Change

The SBC Webinars series continues on Thursday 5 December with Betting and Gaming Council – Committed to Change, an exclusive in-depth look at the newly-launched trade body’s role in the industry.

The BGC, which has replaced the Remote Gambling Association, the Association of British Bookmakers and the National Casino Forum, aims to provide a unified voice for the sector at a time when it is under heightened pressure from regulators, politicians and the media.

This webinar will see Wes Himes, the BGC’s Interim Chief Executive, detail how the organisation plans to fulfil its mandate of ‘championing industry standards’, while improving the representation of all levels and disciplines working within the UK gambling sector.

He will also provide insights on the initial guidance for the BGC’s ambitious ‘22 Actions’ directive, which seeks to reset how stakeholders collaborate to create a safe environment for players, at the same time as promoting the industry.

Wes Himes said: “The BGC’s number one priority is to champion industry standards. The Safer Gambling Commitments and their 22 Actions will set those standards, ensuring our customers a safe and enjoyable betting and gaming experience.

“Everyone needs to know this programme, as it will affect all aspects of the business from marketing to culture.”

Andrew McCarron, Managing Director of SBC, said: “The Betting and Gaming Council has been sorely needed for quite some time, as the industry needs to speak with a unified voice as it continues to come under intense scrutiny from all areas. The industry needs someone to fight its corner.

“It will be important to hear from Wes about the Council’s plans to help drive up standards and make sure that the industry’s efforts on key issues such as safer gambling are recognised by government and the public.”
