Digital Chain: Companies that focus on technology now will benefit from it in the long term

Staying attentive to industry changes and reacting in a quick, thoughtful way was the key advice that Oleg Profatylo, Chief Strategy Officer at Digital Chain gave SBC when we discussed how the industry can limit the effects of COVID-19.

Ahead of next week’s SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital on September 8-11, the year’s biggest digital event in the calendar, Oleg Profatylo gave us a run down on what they will be promoting at the digital event, the areas of the agenda that he is most looking forward to, and how companies that take focus on technology now will benefit from it in the long term.

Further details, including the agenda, full line-up of 200 speakers and list of the 100 virtual exhibitors, are available from the official SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital website

What are you looking forward to at the SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?

As one of the most prominent European events from SBC, Digital Summit Barcelona features many valuable networking opportunities with potential partners and colleagues from all over the world, as well as many relevant trendy topics to discuss.

Also, we are quite fond of innovative online meetings that tend to improve with every new event, and are looking forward to this aspect of the Summit.

What would be your biggest bit of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?

It would be an enrichment of companies’ business profiles. Adding new verticals to their portfolio and offering wider opportunities for the clients makes businesses more stable, which is especially important in times of crisis.

Stay attentive to any changes and react to them quickly, yet thoughtfully – tactic adjustments must be in tune with the general strategy. Rushing somewhere blindly won’t make any good to the business.

What are you promoting at SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?

As always, we plan to present and promote our full range of marketing services, backed up with experience and deep expertise in niche categories.

Among our primary services are business intelligence, strategy, creative development & production, full range of digital performance tools, and communications. And we prove with our clients’ examples that those services can bring a business to a whole new level of image and performance.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?

As the year progressed during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have clearly seen the importance of everything online. Spoiled by many great offerings that operators competed with for the last months, the users may become even more attentive and demanding to new online experiences.

However, introducing new developments, it is important to preserve that flawless online experience that became so important this year. And that means concentrating efforts not so much on innovative solutions as on innovativeness as a hole. Companies that take focus on technology now will benefit from it in the long term.

Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?

To me, combining tech and gaming/betting experiences is now a key to a stand-out company. DC’s key partner Parimatch makes impressive shifts in this direction, being one of the pioneers on the way that, I believe, many companies will eventually choose.

What partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?

There are so many interesting and promising partnerships that it’s quite difficult to name only one or even a few. There’s certainly a power shift on the global market following the changes made by pandemic, and it is yet in progress.

There are also many deals with the use of brand ambassadors. It’s great that brands understand and use this powerful tool. Yet with saturation comes satiation – it is interesting how users will react to the growing density of such contracts.

So, overall, there aren’t any standing out partnerships; instead, everything that happens is overly interesting and worth observation.

Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?

All topics from “Sports betting in focus” and “Technology and Innovation”, and a particular panel about understanding and reaching Latin America players.

Those are on the top of my personal list. However, each conference track is full of valuable information, and we’re going to keep our eyes and ears open to any new cases, experiences, and insights to make the most of the upcoming event.
