SBC granted associate membership of The European Lotteries

SBC has been accepted as an associate member of The European Lotteries (EL), as it continues to strengthen its working relationship with the state lotteries sector.

The membership of the leading European umbrella organisation of national lotteries has been approved by EL’s Executive Committee and is expected to be fully ratified at the General Assembly in June 2020.

SBC has a long-established relationship with EL and has hosted the Association’s Sports Working Group at its industry events since 2017, while several senior executives from EL members have participated in conference panels at Betting on Sports and CasinoBeats Summit.

It now plans to offer EL and its members increased support at its range of international events in 2020, including staging a dedicated Lottery Forum at Betting on Sports Europe in London in June.

Additionally, there will be lottery-focused conference sessions at Betting on Sports America in New Jersey in April and at the SBC Summit in Barcelona in September.

SBC’s network of gaming industry news websites, which includes SBC NewsCasinoBeats and SBC Noticias, will also cover the challenges and opportunities in the European lotteries sector.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO of SBC, said: “Becoming the first events and media company to be granted associate membership of EL is an exciting development for us and one which recognises our valuable work with Europe’s lotteries.

“State lotteries are an important part of our industry and EL’s work is crucial in promoting their objectives and allowing best practice to be developed and shared across borders.

“We are looking forward to helping EL continue to spread its message and achieve its goals through our events and media platforms.”

EL’s Secretary General Arjan van ‘t Veer said: “We are delighted to welcome SBC as an associate member of EL. We look forward to working together in the collective interest of our members to develop innovative ways to promote a sustainable gaming model for the benefit of society.”

Founded in 1983, EL is the umbrella organisation for Europe’s state-owned and state-licensed lotteries, and has 100 members and associate members drawn from 44 countries.
