SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Angelo Alberoni, Novibet

SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Angelo Alberoni, Novibet

With the regulated gaming and sports betting market about to come into effect, Brazil will be one of the major focuses of SBC Summit Latin America .

To address the discussion, Angelo Alberoni , Country Manager in Brazil for Novibet , will be the moderator of the panel “ The betting boom in Brazil: What’s next for the market? ”, where they will analyze the current situation and the future of the sector. He will be joined by João Gerçossimo , CEO of EstrelaBet , Alexandre Fonseca , CEO in Brazil of Superbet , Andre Gelfi , president of the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR), Lívia Troise , CEO of Betmais , and Leonardo Chaves , Country Manager in Brazil, OKTO .

To give a sneak peek into the conversation, SBC Noticias spoke with Alberoni about the current state of the industry in Brazil and Novibet’s outlook in the country.

SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Novibet

SBC News: New regulations will soon come into force in Brazil. How does Novibet position itself in this new scenario?

Angelo Alberoni: Novibet is very optimistic about the Brazilian market after regulation. Our brand has extensive experience in regulated markets, such as Greece, Italy, Cyprus and many others. Therefore, operating in regulated markets is not something new for us, and we believe that legal stability is essential for the good development of any market, including the Brazilian one.

SBC News: How important is it to finally have a regulated market in the country? Where do you see Brazil in the global industry with this?

AA: As mentioned above, regulation is essential for the Brazilian market, whether due to the possibility of tax collection by the State, or due to the need to establish clear rules on money laundering and, mainly, responsible gaming, so absent in Brazil since the enactment of the first Law in 2018. With the arrival of regulation, Brazil has the potential to be among the 5 largest markets in the world. Of course, it is very important that the State enforces all the rules that are being created and prevents brands from continuing to operate in the parallel market.

SBC News: With dozens of companies applying for a license in Brazil, how does Novibet plan to differentiate itself from the competition?

AA: Novibet has a great product that sets it apart from other brands. We own the technology and have a team of developers working on our platform 24/7, ensuring that any adaptation to the Brazilian market is implemented within a few hours, sometimes within minutes. In addition, we will have a team in Brazil dedicated 100 percent to our operations, including, in addition to the commercial team, a technological team, which will keep our product at the highest levels of excellence for Brazil. From a marketing point of view, the strategy will focus on presenting Brazilians with a brand with an international reputation, but that understands Brazil.

SBC News: What can an event like SBC Summit Latin America do for a company’s growth plans?

AA: SBC events are essential for the development of the sector not only in Brazil, but also throughout Latin America. In addition to networking, where the main innovations in the segment are found, SBC and its content bring the flag of education to the continent, since, compared to Europe, we are still at an early stage in terms of knowledge related to all aspects of the activity itself, such as responsible gaming and its direct and indirect implications for users.

SBC News: What are your goals and expectations for the event?

AA: This will be my third participation in the event, the second on a panel, but the first as a moderator, always with the theme of Brazil. I hope that there will be more and more people interested in learning more about the Brazilian market, which, by the time of the event, will already have a good regulatory overview of how it will develop from 2025 onwards.

SBC News: How do you assess the gaming landscape in Latin America? Do you see the company expanding to other countries in the short and medium term?

AA: Novibet currently has operations in Brazil, Mexico and activities in Ecuador and Chile. Latin America is the Group’s main focus for expansion in the coming years and we aim to be among the segment leaders here. Brazil and Mexico are our initial targets, largely due to the size of the markets and the regulatory environments that are in their early stages compared to the rest of the world.

SBC News: What can we expect from Novibet in Brazil in the near future? AA: Novibet aims to be one of the leading brands in online gaming and sports betting in the country. Brazil is our main target market for the coming years and, with our experience and track record of success in other markets, such as Greece, I am confident that we will achieve our goal, placing Novibet in the hearts of Brazilians who love to have fun with sports betting and online gaming.
