Interview with Andrew Cochrane, CCO, SBTech

What can you say about Betting on Sports 2018?

We’ve met with some of our key clients. We’ve met with customers, prospective customers and we’ve met with some of our key partners and supply chain as well. So, it’s been a busy two days, but it’s been an opportunity to connect with a lot of people. We’ve enjoyed it. It’s been hard work but very rewarding few days for SBTech.

What are you showcasing?

Today, we’re showcasing a number of things. One of our key areas of growth in the last 12 months has been our retail operations. We have an end to end sports betting retail solution. It’s actually recently launched in the US. So, we’re live now, today in two different states, Mississippi and New Jersey, with three different clients in five casinos. A lot of US presence here today, a lot of people have travelled over, across the pond to see this event. So, it was a good opportunity to connect with both US customers and also, Europeans who have ambitions to move into the US.

Betting on Sports is going to the US. How big is that going to be?

I think it’s really significant. I think SBC have recognised the momentum in the industry. They’re recognising that European operators want to know more about the US, that there’s going to be significant opportunities for both operators and B2B providers like SBTech. Certainly not necessarily today but certainly, for the next five years. I think SBC have realised the opportunity for everybody and have put a stake in the ground and said, let’s take this concept of focusing on sports betting and taking it to the US is a very sensible idea.

How important is this event to get everybody together?

I think it just gives us an opportunity to have a much more relaxed, informal conversation with some key people. The hustle and bustle of some of the larger events, it can be hard to get the quality time with people. So, I think today, the comfy sofas that we have on the stand just says, come and have a coffee. Come and talk to us and it gives us the opportunity to build some very strong relationships.
