Interview with Pablo Ortiz, Commercial Director, Baskonia Alaves Group

How did you get your deal with Betway?

We were very lucky last time.  We came to this forum and we met Betway here and after a few months we now have our very nice agreement with them for a few years as our main sponsor in Deportivo Alaves.  We are so happy with Betway, and we’re so happy with Betting on Sports.

What methods can LaLiga clubs take to maximise the league’s global popularity?

Well LaLiga clubs, we’re doing now ourselves.  Everyone is doing their own strategy and also a LaLiga institution is having a huge activity in digital fields, working with broadcasters, in different fields and making a better brand and a better competition and I think things are going very well there.   We saw the figures a few days ago and we’re very happy with that.

What do you think about the potential expansion of LaLiga into the US market?

And now that we have a deal we will start to play once a year at least in the States, LaLiga match, and I know that it’s a big project for LaLiga to expand in the US and you probably advertise soon.

How much can that help grow sponsorship opportunities for LaLiga clubs?

A lot because there’s a huge market with a lot of potential, football is not that big over there, but now we can grow with this action and I think there will be a very important market in the midterm.

What can you say about Betting on Sports 2018? 

Well it’s my second time I come here to the Betting on Sport and participate in the forums and it’s a good place to be in common with the industry of betting and sometimes the betting industry and the sport clubs we don’t have the bridges to communicate one with the other and this is the perfect place to meet from time to time and put things together and work on business opportunities.
