Digitain: Discussing the future landscape of sports betting

Ahead of SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital we sat round with our event sponsors to discuss what they are looking forward to seeing and discussing when its virtual doors open on September 8-11.

Simon Westbury, head of sales department at Digitain, emphasised his delight to chair SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital’s β€˜The Future Landscape of Sports Betting’ panel, highlighting the importance of having this topic given the tumultuous year some operators have suffered.

What are you looking forward to at the SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?
As always, the content. The whole summit looks to have been put together with real knowledge of issues and opportunities facing our industry.

Also chairing my panelΒ  – The Future Landscape of Sport Betting. Great subject given the times we’re living in plus a really excellent panel of industry experts. Plus, exploring the virtual trade show floor and seeing what new products are on the market

What would be your biggest bit of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?
From a Sales perspective – keep going. Digitain has built significant momentum since March and has recently had the best sales months ever. There are definite opportunities out there, as operators review the competitiveness of their offering.

Diversification of your portfolio. Makes sense not to have all your eggs in one basket. By offering a great range of betting and gaming options, from some of the best providers, you give yourself a significant advantage, especially when times get difficult, as we have seen during the pandemic.

Do not be rigid in thinking – who would have thought Table Tennis or obscure football would be the go-to products. Think out of the box and look at new products e.g. Table Football.

What are you promoting at SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?

  • World’s Sportsbook – we are very proud of our sportsbook and the team who run it. Very competitive odds but our riskΒ  management capabilities ensure we deliver a very healthy margin, year on year.
  • Let’s Get Digital – our latest promotional campaign targeting offline operators (casino or sports) to take the risk out of going online by partnering with Digitain.
  • Skill GamesΒ  – after maintaining our winning crown at EGR B2B Awards, we will be promoting our fantastic range of P2P games, such as Backgammon, Belote and Rock, Paper, Scissors – great fun and excellent revenue generators for our Partners.
  • Digitown – we’re moving to brand new premises, where we will be also be inviting the brightest start-ups in Armenia space and support to develop their business ideasΒ 

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?
Not so much innovation – but the way the industry adapted to the impact of Covid-19 has been impressive. Introduction of new products to replace the live sports we lost has shown how flexible and quick-reacting we can be as an industry. Virtual conferences, like this one, have been a great initiative also.

Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?
Kenny Alexander and GVC taking a leading stance on how the industry should react and take a different approach to responsible gambling was very welcome.

What partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Peter Crouch and Paddy Power. – Brilliant promotion
