EvenBet Gaming: Now is the time to diversify and look for new solutions

As SBC Digital Summit Africa got underway today, SBC sat down with Dmitry Starostenkov, CEO of EvenBet Gaming to discuss their poker platform, the rise of video streaming and the opportunities for networking at the virtual event.

What are you looking forward to at the SBC Digital Summit Africa?

Today, Africa is the least discovered market for the iGaming industry. But the current growth of sports betting companies in the region and the legislation changes, more than a billion population, and advancing technology development attract more and more iGaming investors and operators.

We are looking forward to getting market development insights from those who are already developing their projects in Africa and welcome any expertise on iGaming there. At this point, any new piece of data and every new case adds a lot to our knowledge.

What would be your biggest bit of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?

Don’t hope it’s over or nearly over. In the beginning, we had quite unrealistic expectations on how long the lockdowns, the restrictions, and the search for the viable antivirus solution would last.

Those who have decided just to wait until things get back to normal lost a lot of valuable time they could have used for diversifying their business, lowering the future risks, and re-engaging the audience. So, don’t wait, use the current situation to look for the new solutions.

What are you promoting at SBC Digital Summit Africa?

EvenBet Gaming core product is a poker platform, and we are going to find out whether there’s an interest in online poker in Africa. We are pretty much sure that the players are interested: there’s a huge cross-over between sports betting and online poker fans.

However, what’s important is whether the operators are ready to implement online poker solutions.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?

The rise of video streaming that has started to make an impact not only in the esports vertical, but also in online casino sectors. I expect it’s going to affect both operators and affiliates marketing and potentially may become the great source of product development insights.

Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?

LeoVegas continues to catch a lot of attention this year, due to its innovative approach to product development and a small revolution made by entirely closing the sports betting project. The great example of the company that welcomes changes, so much needed now.

What partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?

The most recent news on 888 looking forward to buying William Hill, I guess. Two industry giants merging could have an immense impact on the whole iGaming landscape.

Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?

Gaming in Africa panel discussion is what I’m particularly interested in. Featuring experts that are currently working in the region, it is going to be extremely valuable for operators and vendors just entering the new markets.
