This September, 25,000 industry professionals will set off for one of the most highly anticipated industry events of the year, the inaugural SBC Summit, held at the iconic Feira Internacional De Lisboa.

The UK

Taking place on the first core day of the event, the conference session “Spotlight on the UK White Paper: How Far Do Proposed Regulations Go for Players and Operators?” will explore the most effective methods for operators to successfully navigate heightened regulatory scrutiny.

Day two of SBC Summit will feature leading European operator CEOs Gustaf Hagman (CEO, Leovegas) and Neal Menashe (CEO, Super Group) on the ‘Europe Leaders Panel’. They will also share strategies for operators seeking efficient ways to reorganise and reorient, and collaborate with regulators to adhere to compliance measures across multiple markets simultaneously.

The panel ‘UEFA Euro 2024: What Did We Learn?’ will see industry experts discuss the impact of Euro 2024 on financial strategies and betting approaches and examine the broader impact of football tournaments on the industry. Additionally, the panel will reflect on notable market shifts that occurred during the tournament and analyse the responses from bookmakers.

Wrapping up the second day of the conference is the panel titled ‘Finland: The Next Big Player in Europe?’ Known for having one of the world’s highest per-capita gambling markets, this session will feature industry experts discussing Finland’s regulatory timeline, the anticipated regulatory framework, and the opportunities for brands looking to enter this market.

Focusing on one of the most promising new European markets is the panel titled ‘The Affordability Question in Player Protection: Stories From Scandinavia’. During this panel, industry experts will seek to explore the ramifications of the soon-to-be-published UK White Paper, by looking at the current state of Scandinavia, in which certain attributes such as loss limits, are already established compliance tools. Additionally, the panel will explore whether the introduction of affordability checks and loss limits will hinder or enhance market and industry growth. 

The panel named ‘Eurasia Leaders Panel: Transcontinental Talent’, will center on the burgeoning iGaming industry in the region, as well as newly regulated markets that are attracting significant investment, talent, and industry attention. The panel will explore whether there are lessons to be learned from the newly established North American markets, whilst also predicting future convergences and divergences. 

Continuing the focus on player protection, the panel titled ‘Can Compliance Influence Regulation in the US?’ will delve into the significance of proactive regulatory frameworks in shaping the industry’s future. Experts will explore how robust compliance measures can underpin responsible practices and discuss the pivotal role of preemptive regulations in cultivating a sustainable and innovative landscape for the US market.

The panel ‘North America Leaders Panel: Is the Goose Still Golden?’, will gather industry CEOs such as Kresimir Spajic (CEO, Betfred USA) and Michael Moskowitz (CEO, Northstar Gaming), to reflect on the last few years of the North American market.
