SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital opens its virtual doors tomorrow as over 200 expert speakers look to take on some of the biggest topics in sports betting, casino, payments and the igaming industry.
Ahead of the event, Pay360 by Capita’s Senior BDM of Gaming, Nathan Driscoll, shared some advice for betting and gaming businesses as they look to mitigate the cost of COVID-19. Additionally, he looks forward to showcasing the Pay360 brand as the firm looks to reduce fraud and enhance KYC for operators.
What are you looking forward to at the SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?
The opportunities to get together are always amongst the highlights of the year.
Whilst we would all love to be meeting for a post-event dinner near La Rambla, the digital format is a great way to make new contacts and engage with colleagues in the industry.
We’re particularly looking forward to speaking with operators who are looking to expand into new markets and want to make responsible gambling a core part of their processes.
What would be your biggest bit of advice for betting and gaming businesses trying to mitigate the impact of COVID-19?
The key themes amongst operators, who have been able to insulate themselves best against the impact of COVID-19, are diversity of their product portfolio and the range of addressable markets. Operators who also had established systems in place to manage the surge in bonus abuse and collusion caused by the increase in new players have reaped the benefits from those investments.
Moving forward, the breadth of opportunities will only increase as the online marketplace becomes more accessible worldwide. As an industry, we have to ensure that we’re taking a sustainable approach into new markets whilst providing exciting and innovative products to players.
It is therefore imperative that operators are engaged with the technologies and data assets available to them in providing a safe and engaging environment.
What are you promoting at SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital?
Enabling global payments, reducing fraud and enhancing KYC without compromising acceptance rates or adding friction to the user journey.
Pay360 enables operators to look at the payments picture as a whole. From payment channels to acquiring banks, to compliance requirements and the customer experience at checkout. Only by looking at these holistically can gaming operators ensure sustainable success.
We pull together each of these elements and combine them with powerful IDV and analytics tools, providing operators with the capability to identify problem gambling, fraud and support anti-money laundering.
What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2020?
It may not have the biggest impact, but I am personally interested to see how affordability solutions are adopted into player onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
Genuine affordability data, and solutions in turn, have too long been withheld from operators seeking to understand their player’s limits and engage with them meaningfully.
Which operator has impressed you the most in 2020?
For some time, the industry has been banging the drum about sustainability in the face of a hostile media environment.
Sportsbroker have developed a model where the player has a virtual stake in their team(s) performance without the risk of high losses over short periods. They have integrated responsible gambling and sustainability at the core of the product, whilst delivering an outstanding player experience.
Sportsbroker’s philosophy is a waypoint for the industry’s direction of travel and we should see other established market players follow suit in the near future. Watch this space.
What partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
This year we have been working in close collaboration with Agechecked’s tokenised age verification and KYC solution.
In partnership with Pay360’s aggregated data vendor portfolio, Agechecked’s model ensures operators and affiliates can ensure that their players are 18+ without retaining personal information and maintaining identity privacy in accordance with PAS:1296.
Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?
The safer gambling session and the discussion around a possible European standard for problem gambling.
Though it has some way to go, the UK has taken really positive steps on responsible gambling. It would be great to see a unilateral approach taken across jurisdictions; this can only be a good thing for the long-term health of the industry.
Further details, including the agenda, full line-up of 200 speakers and list of the 100 virtual exhibitors, are available from the official SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital website.
