Push Gaming – supporting responsible gambling key for industry growth

With Casino Beats Summit 2019 only four weeks away, SBC continues catching up with the event sponsors as we sat down with Push Gaming’s CEO, James Marshall.

He told SBC about the recent growth of their games and spoke of the new possibilities 5G would bring to the entertainment industry.

The CasinoBeats Summit is running alongside the wider Betting on Sports Week, which takes place from 17 – 20 September at Olympia London.

What are you looking forward to at Casino Beats Summit?

There are a lot of great discussions that are scheduled for Casino Beats. Naturally, I’m interested in the game and slot discussions, but it will be interesting to hear from other suppliers in our space and more importantly to hear from operator perspective on games, innovation and challenges.

What are you promoting at Casino Beats Summit?

We’ve seen incredible growth over the past eighteen months on the back of some of the markets biggest games releases such as Fat Rabbit, Wild Swarm and Jammin’ Jars. Our brand and products are growing in popularity through the extremely entertaining gaming experiences that we offer to players.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2019?

As a supplier of HTML5 games, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the development of native based gaming products on the back of Apple blocking embedded HTML5 wrapped games from their Apps.

The good news for suppliers such as us is Apple does not have the grip on the smartphone space (in Europe at least) as they did when they decided to block flash.

The bigger impact to the entertainment industry as a whole could be 5G – the additional bandwidth removes file size issues and could make everything more instant and accessible, but more importantly it could open up to different kinds of technologies and capabilities.

Which casino operator has impressed you the most in 2019?

Operators are making great changes to support responsible gambling and reduce gambling related harm. This is an area that I think is so important if the industry is going to grow in a sustainable way. Just through industry media I’ve noticed how much emphasis Sky and Richard Flint have put on this area through raising awareness, funding and technology.

What casino partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?

I think Gaming Innovation Groups partnerships with both Hard Rock in the US and Sky City in New Zealand are incredibly exciting. These are both huge land based casino brands and these kinds of partnerships could prove driving forces for their respective markets.

If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?

I would love to see Tottenham in the Champions League final live. I might have missed my chance.

Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?

I’m looking forward to both The Future of Slots and Player Focused Game Design, but I think the Search for Innovation is going to be very interesting. The demands of players are clear in the appetite for new content in general, but I think meeting and exceeding their expectations for greater entertainment is the real challenge, so I’ll be looking forward to this.

The conference boasts 75 leading industry speakers across over 25 sessions, with 30 exhibitors displaying their latest products.
