Ahead of the 18-21 September event, we asked CEO Darren Kim to disclose some of the firm’s plans for #boscon2018 and to pick out the sporting event he would most like to attend.
SBC: What are you looking forward to at Betting on Sports?
DK: For the last four years, RankingBall has prepared for its global debut to the sports and esports gaming market. Now, through SBC, I’m excited to introduce our innovative product and service platform to the world. I’m looking forward to receiving various feedback from the many aspects of our product and to expand business relationships with the many great attendees and companies.
SBC: What are you promoting at Betting on Sports?
DK: RankingBall is setting out to become the go-to second screen experience while watching live sporting events. After placing your bets or setting your lineup, there’s not much interaction that traditional betting and fantasy sports sites provide the users during a live match.
All the action is done before the game has started, but we wanted to give the fans something to look forward to before, during and after the live match. So, RankingBall created a platform that provides users with an interactive and easy to play game, real-time stats and updates, and a thriving community.
Starting with our game, we found that outside the US, fantasy sports aren’t very popular due to its demanding research and unfair matchmaking gap. So RankingBall created an easy to play hybrid of Fantasy Sports and Bingo game that focuses on a single match.
We give the users, experienced and those new to the market, freedom to choose who they want on their team and where to place them on their Bingo board. Once the real match starts, the bingo cells are synchronized, and stunning visuals interact with real time data coming from the stadium. Whether you’re at home, the bar, or watching in person, RankingBall provides users with an enhanced second screen experience on the phone or web not found anywhere else.
SBC: Which sports betting company has impressed you the most in 2018?
DK: I think Paddy Power Betfair has to be one of the most impressive operators. They’ve just launched the signal flare toward the NA gaming market by acquiring shares of FanDuel at a critical time as the US supreme court officially announced the PASPA unconstitutional.
SBC: What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
DK: I’m fairly proud of the partnerships we have made with sports data companies, data providers, marketing companies, etc. Among them, I’m especially proud of the partnership we made with the major broadcasting companies in Korea like KBS, KBSN, and SBS. This is seen to us a big step to bringing the private betting and fantasy sports market into Korea.
SBC: If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?
DK: For me, it would have to be the World Cup final. Being able to attend that one sporting event that the entire world waits for every four years would make for an unforgettable experience.
