SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Carlos Sabanza, Codere Online

SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Carlos Sabanza, Codere Online

With the evolution of the regulatory landscape in Latin America, the promotion of sports betting operations has become one of the main focuses of discussion in the sector. For this reason, Carlos Sabanza , Director of Sponsorship and Public Relations at Codere Online , will be one of the main speakers at the next SBC Summit Latin America 2024 .

The Spaniard will participate in the panel “Focus on ethics: the impact of operator logos on sports shirts”, where he will address the topic alongside Betwarrior’s CMO, Santiago Gándara , and Growe’s Digital Marketing manager, Felipe Maturana , with the moderation of consultant Enrique Romero .

A little over a month before the event, Sabanza spoke with the SBC Noticias team and shared some details about his vision of the Latin American market.

SBC Summit LatAm Spotlight: Codere Online

SBC News: Some Latin American countries with new regulations, such as Argentina, are expressing concern about the growth of the segment and restrictive regulatory proposals have begun to emerge. How does the company address these types of issues, with advertising and promotions being a pillar for growth?

Carlos Sabanza: We approach this issue with responsibility and dialogue. We believe that the best way to ensure sustainable and healthy growth of our industry is to work together with regulators and authorities to establish a fair and balanced framework that protects all stakeholders, especially players. We are aware of the social impact of our activity and are committed to promoting a culture of responsible gaming among our customers and society. To do so, we ensure that our advertising and promotional activity is respectful, transparent and in accordance with local regulations and best practices.

SBC News: Codere Online is a partner of Real Madrid, Rayados de Monterrey and River Plate . How important are these types of sponsorships for local growth? How can one alliance be differentiated from others in the sports field?

CS: Collaborating with top-level international sporting organisations such as those mentioned above is vital and strategic for us, both from a reputational and business perspective. It helps us to show our credibility within the industry, as the choice of these prominent clubs to partner with us through sponsorships indicates that we are moving in the right direction.

We see this type of agreement as an opportunity to offer our clients unique experiences that only a sponsor of such prestigious sports institutions can offer, in addition to serving as a means of differentiation and exclusivity.

SBC News: How actively does Codere Online seek this type of sponsorship in Latin America?

CS: At Codere Online we are always open to studying and evaluating new sponsorship opportunities that help us continue to grow as a brand and allow us to offer exclusive experiences to our customers. We constantly explore all viable sponsorship possibilities that allow us to continue positioning ourselves in the market as an attractive company where people want to be entertained and have fun. Finding the best sponsorship options for the company is an integral part of our work.

SBC News: With 4,000 industry delegates set to gather at SBC Summit Latin America, how important is an event like this for Codere Online’s strategy in the region?

CS: These events allow us to exchange knowledge and experiences in the sector, which is always very valuable. Sharing moments with people and companies that face similar challenges and objectives makes them invaluable. At Codere Online we greatly value that SBC organizes these initiatives, as they give us a complete perspective of the current state of the sector.

SBC News: What are the company’s plans for the future?

CS: We look forward to continuing to increase our presence in the markets in which we operate, where we continue to see a lot of potential and opportunity. We will also continue to keep an eye out for new opportunities in Latin America, where we want to become a leading online gaming operator, offering the best gaming and entertainment experience to our customers. And of course, we also plan to continue investing in technology, security and responsible gaming, as these are essential pillars for our business and reputation.
