SBC Summit North America: Navigating Regulation, Compliance and Responsible Gambling

As the industry navigates the challenge of balancing regulatory compliance with commercial growth, SBC Summit North America will offer the optimal platform for delegates to glean insights into the latest compliance strategies, responsible gambling initiatives, and safeguarding technology.

Scheduled to commence on Tuesday, May 7th at the Tribeca 360, New York, the limited capacity, pre-day conference, will offer attendees access to both the ‘SBC Gaming Regulation & Compliance Forum’ and the ‘Player Protection Symposium’.

Throughout the day, attendees can anticipate focused discussions on regulating innovative technologies, ensuring compliance in mergers and acquisitions, proactive solutions to combat underage gambling, and the prominent role of technology in responsible gambling.

Kicking off the day is the panel titled ‘Merge Here: M&A Compliance’ which will provide insights into successfully navigating the complex framework of mergers and acquisitions. Finance and compliance experts Benjie Cherniak (Principal, Avenue H Capital), Lauren Lemmer (Director, New Markets & Product Compliance, Fanatics Betting), and panel moderator Wayne Kimmel (Managing Partner, SeventySix Capital) will offer a thorough exploration of the regulatory, legal, and financial aspects essential for ensuring compliant merger and acquisition processes.

The panel titled ‘Regulating the Machines: How Legislators See AI, Machine Learning and Big Data in Betting’ will explore the compliance issues associated with adopting emerging technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence) and big data. Experts Michelle Dunham (Manager & Counsel, American Express), David Fucillo (Head of Sports Betting Content, Vox Media), and Scott Sadin (COO, US Integrity) will dissect the optimal compliance strategies for companies dealing with innovative technologies, customer interactions, and player data management.

The session panel ‘Does Responsible Gambling Truly Create Both Sustainability and Long-Term Growth for Operators?’ will delve into how operators can leverage responsible gambling initiatives to drive sustainable growth. Industry experts Teresa Fiore (VP Partnerships, EPIC Global Solutions), Richard Taylor Jr (Responsible Gaming Program Manager, BetMGM), Chrissy Thurmond (Director of Responsible Gaming, DraftKings), Ashley Cahill (Director, Responsible Gaming and Community Impact, Fanduel) and panel moderator Dan Spencer (Director of Strategic Partnerships, EPIC Global Solutions), will asses the advantages and explore the strategies for engaging key commercial stakeholders to promote responsible gambling initiatives.

Concluding the day, the panel titled ‘The Growing Need for Responsible Gambling Technology’ will discuss the evolving relationship between responsible gambling practices and technology. Industry experts David Naczycz (Executive Director, Fintech & Sports Wagering Innovation Center), Emilia Kinderman (Director of Compliance and MLRO, Fitzdares), Adam Warrington (Vice President, Responsible Gaming, Underdog Fantasy), Stephen Aupy (Business Development Manager, Mindway.AI) alongside session moderator Jonathan Michaels (Principal, Michaels Strategies) will analyze the impact of emerging technologies such as AI, Blockchain and Biometric authentication and asses their advantages and potential limitations in pushing responsible gambling forward.

The Player Protection Symposium will also host a live edition of Martin Lycka’s Safe Bet Show, in which Martin Lycka (SVP of American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, Entain) will be joined on stage by Mark Hicks (Managing Director of NCAA) to address critical responsible gambling issues in front of a live audience.
