Trustly is sponsoring Betting on Sports 2017, the second edition of the largest international sports and betting trade conference at Olympia Conference Centre in Kensington.
Ahead of the 12-15 September event, we spoke to the company’s Director of Gaming Samuel Barrett about what he is looking forward to at #boscon2017, his perfect sporting event, and how sports and betting can work better together.
SBC: What are you looking forward to at Betting on Sports?
SB: For some time now, I’ve been looking forward to Betting on Sports. Not only is it one of the largest sports and betting trade conferences, but it’s held just a stone’s throw away from Trustly’s new office in Clerkenwell, London. (If you havenโt visited us yet, make sure you stop by while youโre in town!)
My colleagues and I are excited to network with our existing clients, meet potential new partners, and show off our latest products. Thereโs also a line-up of fantastic speakers that are sure to shed some light on key trends in sports betting.
SBC: What are you promoting at Betting on Sports?
SB: Trustly has developed a unique product called Pay & Play that allows players to skip the sign-up process when making their first deposit with an operator. It gets them in on the action faster than the standard sign-up flow would, which is a win-win for both operators and players.
Weโre excited to share more about this product, in addition to our core products. We will also be discussing instant payouts in the UK, which is a major revolution in the industry and will surely be of major interest as we prepare for the World Cup 2018.
SBC: Where can betting work together more closely with sport?
SB: In my opinion, collaboration is always a good thing! For Trustly, our collaboration is on the operator side, not the sports side. We have often thought about and looked into duplicating the same sponsorships operators have with their chosen B2C sport brands, which as a result would align our brand with the sports betting industry.
I believe the sports industry has given many opportunities to operators already and if we can continue to innovate, the sports industry will increase their involvement.
SBC: What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
SB: I believe new kids on the block, FanLeague, has done a great job in connecting football to social betting. It lets you invite and challenge friends to predict the outcome of games, and who doesnโt love beating their friends?
With Swedish football manager Sven-Gรถran Eriksson as an ambassador and Call it Paul, the presenter who often turns up to interview fans at sport matches, this by far has been a different but successful approach. Itโs one of the most interesting partnerships in my opinion, and Iโm really excited to see more of these unique partnerships in the future.
SBC: Describe your perfect sporting eventย ย
SB: For a long time now, Iโve been counting down the days until the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Itโs by far the best event in sports both for me personally and professionally. Thereโs really no event that compares in my mind. Itโs amazing how the whole world stops and watches these matches for an entire month. I definitely plan to watch some games with my friends at my house, or maybe from my phone while Iโm on the go.
