The road to SBC’s Betting on Sports continues as we catch up with event sponsor DIMOCO, to discuss ‘buzzing’ new technologies with their iGaming Business Development Manager, Beyza Orazova.
He told SBC about how the new Direct Carrier Billing payment method would make the ‘iGaming industry tremble’ ahead of #boscon, and how their product offers a better conversion rate.
What are you looking forward to at Betting on Sports?
Betting on Sports is definitely one of the best industry events I’ve attended. It is a fantastic blend of operators, suppliers and regulators that come together to learn, network and grow together. The event is aimed to facilitate networking, building connections and catching up with old friends and partners.
What are you promoting at Betting on Sports?
Operator Billing or Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) is a remote payment method allowing users to pay for online goods, products, support, services and content with their mobile devices (mobile phones, tablets and Smart TVs). The pure telco payment method allows players to use the ‘pay by mobile’ payment option and directly charge the amount to their monthly bill. A payment method literally everybody holds in hand.
What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2019?
We at DIMOCO actually provide a technology that will have the industry buzzing.
A single API enables merchants to bill everybody with a mobile devices, a technology that has the power to making the iGaming industry tremble!
Direct Carrier Billing requires the user only to enter their phone number to make a payment. In contrast, card-based payments require the user to share their name, card number, home address etc. Due to a shorter checkout flow, merchants using both payment methods report up to 10 x better conversion rates with Direct Carrier Billing than with credit cards.
Which sports betting operator has impressed you the most in 2019?
If I had to choose one operator it would be Unibet. The Kindred Group has generally impressed me as they always seem to prioritize responsible gaming and player protection across all their brands which, reflecting their core company values. Especially nowadays the betting and gambling industry is being criticized for many different reasons, it’s in our interests to show the public that protecting vulnerable players and creating a safe and responsible environment for all is our goal. In addition, Unibet is brilliantly applying their values to the brand!
What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
Sadly the Austrian racing driver Nicki Lauda recently passed away. It reminded many of us of the very unique and longstanding partnership with Novomatic. A sportsman who was rarely seen neither on red carpets nor in his spare time without his famous red Novomatic cap.
If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?
Easy choice – the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo! We at DIMOCO in fact sponsor the Austrian Judoka Lukas Reiter, his team just scored a bronze medal at the Minsk European Open 2018 – it would the very exciting seeing somebody win a medal that you actually personally know!
Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?
I am especially looking forward to the Payments Expert Forum, definitely my personal event highlight!
#boscon, held 17-20 September at Olympia London, is the world’s leading sports betting industry event, with this year’s conference set to boast 300 leading industry speakers across 50 sessions, with 120 exhibitors displaying their latest products.
