The road to SBC’s Casino Beats Summit 2019 continues, and with four weeks to go, we caught up with event sponsor Design Works Gaming.
We sat down with their President & CEO, Troy Zurawski, who told SBC about Design Works Gaming’s new promotions and discussed the tough year many operators have faced in Europe.
What are you looking forward to at CasinoBeats Summit?
I believe the CasinoBeats Summit is an excellent opportunity to connect with potential clients, learn about new developments, and share information and opportunities about our company.
We have a lot of experience in the U.S. land-based industry, as well as the social sector as both a supplier and operator. We are excited to take what we’ve learned and bring it to RMG in Europe. We’ve heard good reports about the summit and look forward to imparting some of our knowledge when it comes to creating slots that generate consistently good revenues.
What are you promoting at CasinoBeats Summit?
Design Works Gaming is promoting its entry into real money gaming by educating potential clients about our technology, games, promotional products, and deep roots in the gaming industry (which go back generations).
I think European operators and aggregators are used to getting more generic content these days and we are looking forward to shaking that up. The beauty of our games is that they have been tried and tested in other verticals and are therefore far less of a risk for casinos.
What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2019?
I would, of course, say our own technology and games that allow operators more exclusive content and marketing features than ever before. As a wider industry, it’s hard to say. I think operators are looking for solid revenue generators that have longevity – but that has always been the case.
Which casino operator has impressed you the most in 2019?
It’s been a tough year for many operators in Europe, with regulation and taxation taking its toll. It’s hard to scroll through a newsletter like CasinoBeats without reading about another fine. I think operators that can adapt to changing times and tough economic conditions are the ones that deserve admiration.
What casino partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
I’ve found the Big Time Gaming’s Megaways franchise in its success interesting. They’ve licensed several games outside their portfolio with an emphasis on math and mechanics. Similarly, at DWG, validated data weighs in on every decision.
We’re able to give players exactly what they want, at the time they want it. We have a huge back catalogue of proven and tested games that have done consistently well in the social sphere. Our games take the risk out of the equation for RMG operators. I think you’ll start to see more partnerships form with this model in the coming year.
If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?
Hands down, a Winter Olympics! Based in Scottsdale, Arizona we don’t exactly have the climate for many of the sports but I’ve always been intrigued by some of the events and would love to see it live.
Which parts of the conference agenda have caught your eye?
The panels, one of which I’m lucky enough to have been included on, look excellent. There are some interesting topics and speakers, that will provoke some real debate. I’m looking forward to picking up some tips and info, as well as being able to pass on some of my own know-how from many years on the other side of the Pond!
The CasinoBeats Summit is running alongside the wider Betting on Sports Week, which takes place from 17 – 20 September at Olympia London.
The conference boasts 75 leading industry speakers across over 25 sessions, with 30 exhibitors displaying their latest products.
