Independent Content Services (ICS) is sponsoring Betting on Sports 2018, the 3rd edition of the largest international sports and betting trade conference at Olympia London.
Ahead of the 18-21 September event, we asked Andrew Morgan, ICS International Director, to disclose some of the firm’s plans for #boscon2018 and to pick out the sporting event he would most like to attend.
SBC: What are you looking forward to at Betting on Sports?
AM: This is the first time we have exhibited at an event, so we are looking forward to getting our name out there and showcasing everything we have to offer. We are also looking forward to meeting many of our current clients as we find face-to-face meetings at events such as BOSCON incredibly productive. This is, of course, our first event since our acquisition by the Racing Post so we are also looking forward to spending time with the Racing Post team.
SBC: What are you promoting at Betting on Sports?
AM: ICS offers a range of written, audio and video services across the iGaming industry but it is our translation and localisation offerings that will be front and centre at Betting on Sports. We have just launched services in Bengali, our 66th language, while we are also picking up business in the United States following the repeal of PASPA. Latin America and Africa are also increasingly key markets for us.
We will also be showcasing our audio commentary services and will be offering personalised commentary where we place conference delegates at the heart of iconic moments in football history. If you are interested in receiving such a commentary, then please head over to our stand.
SBC: Which sports betting operator has impressed you the most in 2018?
AM: The number of UK-based operators who have swept into the nascent American market has been rather impressive, particularly those who have tied up deals with well-known US brands. Considering that the PASPA repeal happened in the same week as the FOBT crackdown, this swift change of focus from the UK to the US for British operators shows just how agile the iGaming industry can be.
SBC: What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
AM: The global growth of the betting industry has been highlighted by the range of sports betting partnerships which have taken place over the last 12 months. A number of the UK bookmaker tie-ups in the US promise to pay dividends but it is the sponsorship of Premier League clubs by African and SE Asian bookmakers that is of particular interest. With both regions growing and containing a young tech-savvy populace, English domestic football offers a potential way into these markets for European bookmakers and we can help them every step of the way.
SBC: If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?
AM: I would have to say the Super Bowl, particularly if it was in an iconic location such as New York, Dallas or Los Angeles. I cannot think of any sporting event that is more of an event, with all of the razzmatazz around it, a razzmatazz that only the Americans can really do. And if the Seattle Seahawks are there, well that would be even better.
