Pinnacle is sponsoring Betting on Sports 2018, the 3rd edition of the largest international sports and betting trade conference at Olympia London.
Ahead of the 18-21 September event, we asked CEO Paris Smith to disclose some of the firm’s plans for #boscon2018 and to pick out the sporting event she would most like to attend.
SBC: What are you looking forward to at Betting on Sports?
PS: Betting on Sports never fails to deliver. Everyone involved deserves massive amounts of credit for always putting on a fantastic event. There’s always so much to do and as per usual, it feels like three days isn’t enough.
In addition to catching up with friends and meeting new people, I’m spoilt for choice when it comes to trying to decide what events to attend. The Future of Betting track is certainly going to be interesting and it’s always great to get some insight from industry experts.
I’m also really looking forward to the speaking at the Experience counts – the Hall of Fame Panel.
SBC: What are you promoting at Betting on Sports?
PS: There’s always so much going at Pinnacle and we’re all very excited to have the opportunity to communicate what we’ve been working on to others in the industry – this includes our sportsbook, Casino developments, Affiliate programme and most recently the launch of a new B2B offering.
We’ve made no secret of the fact that Pinnacle Solution has been (and will continue to be) an area of focus for the company. We’ve had some great feedback from previous conferences and Betting on Sports is another chance to show people how they can benefit from Pinnacle’s experience in the industry and our unrivalled risk management via our B2B platform.
SBC: Which sports betting operator has impressed you the most in 2018?
PS: The gaming industry is full of forward-thinking operators. There is plenty of competition, but I think that can only be a good thing as it helps us thrive and push the boundaries more. I think Betway have shown how dedicated they are in terms of following through on their esports focus and I can speak from experience, that takes a lot of hard work.
SBC: What sports betting partnership has stood out in the past 12 months?
PS: I think the Stars Group acquisition of Sky Bet stands out purely based on the size of the deal. Given that the deal resulted in what is now the largest publicly listed online gaming company in the world, I’m sure many people would give the same answer as me.
SBC: If you could attend one sporting event, what would it be?
PS: I’ve been very fortunate to attend a few major sporting events this year, Royal Ascot and Wimbledon were two of my personal favourites (the Anderson vs. Isner marathon semi-final is something I won’t forget in a hurry!).
I was obviously very envious of everyone who got to see the World Cup final in Russia but if there’s one thing I want to attend this year it would have to be The International. I’ve yet to experience a live major esports event and would love to see what 20,000 people cheering on a match in Dota 2 is like.
