Spiffx is sponsoring Betting on Football 2018, the fifth edition of the largest international football and betting trade conference at Stamford Bridge.
Ahead of the 20-23 March event, we spoke to the company’s CEO Lennart Gillberg about what he is looking forward to at #bofcon2018, which innovation he expects to capture the most attention in 2018, and who he is backing to lift the World Cup trophy in Russia.
SBC: What are you looking forward to at Betting on Football?
LG: We have an exciting new inventory and it is our intention is to showcase the products that are ready to roll-out into the market and hopefully have positive discussions about products on the proverbial assembly line.
Hence, the networking opportunities at the show, in addition to a fine line-up of industry speakers, should make for an all-round productive and highly enjoyable annual event. We have attended the last two events and have enjoyed the ability to share our exciting product with the market in a relaxed and fun environment.
SBC: What are you promoting at Betting on Football?
LG: The timing of this year’s show allows Spiffx to share with the industry our latest hybrid and in-play gaming products. It’s no secret that we have been developing over two dozen new products, including adding refined and modern characteristics to some of the more popular traditional games. We have been developing in-tandem with world renowned mathematicians to ensure the best possible player experiences which should make these products highly desirable for our distribution partners and collective players alike.
The Spiffx company ethos has always been to pioneer event based or tournament in-play gaming products. Moreover, we strive to deliver exciting interfaces with the emphasis on simple and no-fuss interaction. Our creative and technical teams have also been looking into reverse-engineering traditional gaming products and adding sporting and/or E-sporting elements to create modern and sophisticated gaming products that are easy to interact with and understand. These new games encapsulate event-based betting like the World Cup in addition to regular gaming events.
SBC: What industry innovation will capture the most attention in 2018?
LG: I think esports will continue its upward spiral as there is so much appeal from an already established and ever-growing audience. The migration of gaming events to the digital environment has been around for some time now. With that said, we are literally at the forefront of a new E-sporting era. I believe if we are truly honest with ourselves, the evolution of human interaction on digital, 3D and interactive environments was always inevitable.
Incorporating odds or betting has been well documented and employed by some of the industries most respected odds-makers and bookmakers alike. This is truly an area to not only watch, but to act on. Crypto is always in the back of people’s minds with the emphasis now being on the information-value driven coin(s). All this is underpinned by the undeniable growing presence of the blockchain.
Both areas will allow game developers like us to create opportunities to further pioneer new ways of offering interactive products that remain at the forefront of innovation, whilst providing simple and fun interaction.
SBC: How can your company help to improve the customer experience ahead of the World Cup?
LG: Innovation with the ability to keep things simple has always been a rule of thumb employed by Spiffx. Re-engineering traditional gaming and building new hybrid or crossover products with exciting technologies is what drives us. Enhancing the interface both intelligently and interactively provides for a highly desirable product range.
We have been hard at work developing over two dozen new products that will roll-off the technical development-line this year. With player enjoyment always at the forefront of our creative, by default, we shall continue to strive to provide an enhanced experience and overall customer journey.
SBC: Who are you backing to win the tournament, and why?
LG: I’m supporting Sweden because somebody has to – I just bought the new shirt! I tried to convince my son to watch the qualifier against Italy a few months ago but he preferred to follow an esports game he was interested in.
But hopefully if we have a good run in the cup – he will watch the games with me this summer and witness first-hand the excitement as a nation progresses in the World Cup to holding that final trophy at the end!
