Sport Industry NextGen, the leading professional development programme for the rising stars working in sport business, has opened applications for the 2020 intake.
Sport Industry NextGen is aimed at industry professionals aged 30 and under and is designed to better equip the best emerging talent for leadership roles. 2020 will be the fifth year of the programme which is established as the leading development programme within the sport sector.
Coaches for the programme include; Tracey Crouch MP; former Sported CEO Chris Grant; leadership expert René Carayol; former England Netball Captain Ama Agbeze; sports consultant, film-maker and broadcaster Leon Mann and many more.
The Sport Industry NextGen Leaders alumni itself is already a powerful network of 120 industry leaders from brands, NGBs, agencies, media, plus entrepreneurs and more. 2020 will see 30 more rising industry stars join this illustrious group and benefit from similar experiences to help them prepare for their future at the forefront of the sector.
Successful applicants benefit from a year-long Leadership Package which includes money-can’t-buy training, personal development and networking opportunities, in addition to the powerful, lifelong network the Leaders form together.
Lungi Macebo, COO, Birmingham City Football Club and Sport Industry NextGen Leader 2019, said: “Applying for the Sport Industry NextGen programme will always be one of the best things I’ve ever done. The application process alone challenged me to be a lot more self-aware, identifying what I bring to the table and where I’d like to take my career.
“Being on the programme has been a real eye-opener, I’ve met some incredible people, developed in a short space of time and will forever be part of this great community, within this incredible industry we work in. I’m genuinely filled with excitement for the future!”
James Funnell, Head of Sponsorship Strategy, AEG Europe and Sport Industry NextGen Leader 2019, said: “The #SINextGen recipe is simple: 30 ambitious leaders, first-class Coaches, and brilliantly organised events. It’s challenging at times, but always fun, inspiring and massively rewarding. The programme has given me the confidence and tools to work towards becoming a better leader and has already re-shaped my day-to-day approach to work. There’s nothing else like it.”
The 2019 Leadership Package included legal insight from Howard Kennedy, a leadership workshop from Loughborough University London, a 24-hour experience with IDG at Sandhurst, access to multiple Sport Industry Group events, plus additional networking and learning opportunities, as well as personal development and an introduction to an expanded and powerful network of like-minded peers.
Alex Coulson, Managing Director of Sport Industry Group, said: “It’s a genuine honour to open applications for the fifth year of the Sport Industry NextGen programme. We believe strongly in giving a platform to the best talent, irrespective of age or years of experience, in order to make sure our sector is best placed to change in the rapidly evolving consumer habits of sport consumption.
“Interest in Sport Industry NextGen has grown exponentially year-on-year and our alumni network is already a real ‘who’s who’ of the sport industry. We created the programme to support and develop young leaders but one of the most positive outtakes from this programme is how beneficial it can be for all parties involved; with our partners learning as much from the young leaders as the leaders learn from our partners.”
Applications are open from Tuesday16th July to Friday 13th September and can be made here https://www.sportindustry.biz/events/next-gen/2020
The online entry process is free of charge for all applicants who should enter for themselves but will require supporting references.
The Sport Industry NextGen selection committee – which is formed of Sport Industry NextGen Coaches, partners and industry experts – will select the rising stars both for their existing ability and their future potential.
